There were things taught about this "faith" which they did not understand (a "mystery").  They did not understand (a "mystery") that Jesus would come, be born of a virgin, but would be rejected, crucified, buried, and raised the third day.  They did not understand (a "mystery") that Jesus would ascend to heaven and return at a later time to set up his political kingdom as promised to Abraham.

They did not understand (a "mystery") that Jesus would return as a thief in the night and the born again believers would be taken out, Raptured.  Then a period of great tribulation would follow on the earth for seven years, to purge and prepare the Israeli nation for the 2nd coming of Jesus to be their King and Savior.
The marriage of the Lamb to the church will be in heaven before the second coming of Jesus.
(Revelation 19:5-21)

1. The local church is  to one husband.
(2 Corinthians 11:2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.)
2. The local church is to be presented to Jesus as a chaste .

(2 Corinthians 11:2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.)
3. In
(Ephesians 5:22-33 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

23  For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

24  Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

25  Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

26  That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

27  That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

28  So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.

29  For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:

30  For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

31  For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

32  This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

33  Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.) there is a parallel between a husband and his
     with Jesus and his .
4. The bride of Jesus is to be his .
(Ephesians 5:30-32 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

31  For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

32  This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.)
5. The bride of Christ will meet Jesus in the  at the Rapture.

(1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.)
6. For Salvation Jesus makes us ready by his blood, but the bride is
to make  ready for the wedding.
(Revelation 19:7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.)
7. To her was  that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean
   and white.
(Revelation 19:8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.)
8. The fine linen is the righteousness of .
(Revelation 19:8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.)
9. What word in
(Revelation 19:8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.) tells us that not everyone in heaven can
      wear the bridal gown?
10. The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of .
(Revelation 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.)
