Angels Ministering to Jesus
When you finish reading this lesson go to the Work Sheet.
All angels, authorities, and powers are subject to Jesus.
"Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him." (1 Peter 3:22)
Therefore angels not only help Jesus, but minister to him.
Jesus told Nathanael that angels would attend his every need.
"49 Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.
50 Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these.
51 And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man." (John 1:49-51)
At the temptation of Jesus, the Devil quoted from the Old Testament how that God would have his angels to protect Jesus.
"For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways." (Psalms 91:11)
Angels came and ministered to Jesus after the temptation by the Devil.
"Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him." (Matthew 4:11)
Before Jesus was to be crucified, he went to the garden of Gethsemane. There
Jesus prayed to God in great agony. After his prayers an angel came to strengthen
him.
"And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him." (Luke 22:43)
When the soldiers came to arrest Jesus, the apostles tried to protect him. Jesus
told them that he could have twelve legions of angels if he needed help.
"Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?" (Matthew 26:53)
Michael, the archangel, will be with Jesus at the Rapture.
"16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive [and] remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord." (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17)
When Jesus comes back to this earth (2nd coming), many angels will be with him.
"And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels," (2 Thessalonians 1:7)
"For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works." (Matthew 16:27)
"And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other." (Matthew 24:31)
"When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:" (Matthew 25:31)
The world will come to an end after Jesus reigns here as King of Kings for one thousand years. At the end of the world, Jesus will use his angels to separate the lost from the saved.
"38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked [one];
39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.
40 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.
41 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;
42 And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth."
(Matthew 13:38-42)
