Jonah



Jonah is a type of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.  

Jonah is a sign for salvation.


1. Because of Jonah's sin of rebellion, he was cast into the .  

(Jonah 1:12 And he said unto them, Take me up, and cast me forth into the sea; so shall the sea be calm unto you: for I know that for my sake this great tempest is upon you.)

2. God prepared a  fish to swallow Jonah.  

(Jonah 1:17 Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.)

3. Jesus called the fish a .  

(Matthew 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.)

4. Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and  nights.  

(Jonah 1:17 Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.)

5. The whale's belly was a type of  for Jonah.  

(Jonah 2:2 And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.)

6. Because of man's sins, Jesus "  for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was , and that he  again the day according to the scriptures."  

(1 Corinthians 15:3-4 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

4  And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.)

7. Jonah was three days and three nights in the whale's belly which is a type of Jesus who would be three  and three  in the of the earth.  

(Matthew 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.)

8. As Jonah came out of the whale's belly on the third day, Jesus came out of  on the third day.  

(Acts 2:31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.)

9. Have you accepted this sign of salvation, that Jesus died for your sins, was buried, and raised on the third day?

10. For a person to be saved, they must  with their the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in their  that God hath raised him from the , they shall be saved.  

(Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.)

11. Have you prayed out loud and ask God to forgive you and save you by the blood of Jesus?
