I. The death of Saul and his sons. Vs. 1-13

    A. The Philistines fought against Israel. Vs. 1

    B. Israel lost at Mount Gilboa. Vs. 1

    C. The Philistines slew Saul’s sons: Jonathan, Abinadab, and Malchishua. Vs. 2

    D. Saul was severely wounded by an arrow. Vs. 3

    E. Saul took a sword and fell upon it, because his armor-bearer would not kill him. Vs. 4

    F. When the armor-bearer saw that Saul was dead, he killed himself. Vs. 5

    G. The Philistines cut off the heads of Saul and his sons. Vs. 6-9

       1. They fastened their heads in the temple of Dagon. Vs. 1 Chronicles 10:10

    H. They put their armor in the temple of Ashtaroth. Vs. 10

    I. They fastened their bodies to the wall of Bethshan. Vs. 10

    J. The valiant men of Jabeshgilead went by night and took the bodies of Saul and his sons and brought them to Jabesh. Vs. 11-13

       1. They burnt the bodies of Saul and his sons at Jabesh. Vs. vs. 12

       2. They buried the bones of Saul and his sons under a tree at Jabesh, and fasted for seven days. Vs. 13
