Genesis 9

Genesis 9 - Noah and His Family Presentation

I. God told Noah and his sons to replenish the earth. Genesis 9:1

    A. Replenish – put back what was there before the flood.

II. All of the animals, fowls, and fishes, shall fear man. Genesis 9:2

III. Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for man. Genesis 9:3

    A. Nothing that has blood is to be eaten alive. Genesis 9:4

IV. Thou shall not kill men, by your hand or with animals. Genesis 9:5-7

V. The rainbow is created for a covenant with men that God will not destroy the world with water again. Genesis 9:8-17

VI. The sons of Noah. Genesis 9:18-19

    A. Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

    B. Ham is the father of Canaan.

VII. Noah got drunk and went to sleep naked in his tent. Genesis 9:20-23

    A. Ham and his son, Canaan saw Noah.

    B. Ham told his brothers.

    C. Shem and Japheth carried a covering and went in backwards and covered Noah without seeing his nakedness.

VIII. Noah places a curse on Canaan and his descendants. Genesis 9:24-25

    A. God did not curse Ham.

    B. Canaan would be a servant to his brethren.

    C. Canaan would be a servant to Shem and his descendants.

IX. Noah blessed Shem. Genesis 9:26

    A. Shem would follow God.

    B. Canaan would serve Shem.

X. Noah blessed Japheth. Genesis 9:27

    A. Japheth would be a large race of nations.

    B. Japheth would dwell in the tents of Shem, that is, to learn from Shem how to serve God. Canaan would serve Japheth.

XI. Noah lived 350 years after the flood and died at the age of 950. Genesis 9:28-29
