Types of the Saved in the New Testament

There are five types of the saved that we need to look at in the New Testament.


1.  of the Lord are a type of the saved.  
(John 10:26-27 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.

27  My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:)

A.   This type teaches that we are to  and  Jesus.  

(John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:)

2. A  that is in the true vine is a type of the saved.  

(John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.)

A.   This type teaches that we are to bear fruit only in .  

(John 15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.)

3.  is a type of the saved.  

(Matthew 5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.)

 A. This type teaches that we are to be a good .

4.  is a type of the saved.  

(Matthew 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.)

A.   This type teaches that we are not to be .

(Matthew 5:14-15 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

15  Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.)

 B. This type teaches that others need to see our good  and

      glorify God.  

(Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.)

 C. This type teaches that we are to walk as children of ,

         proving what is  unto the Lord.  

(Ephesians 5:8-10 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

9  (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)

10  Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.)

 D. This type teaches that we are not to have  with the

      unfruitful works of darkness, but rather  them.

(Ephesians 5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.)

5.  are a type of the saved.  

(Matthew 4:19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.)

A.   This type teaches that the saved are to  fishers of men.

(Mark 1:17 And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.)
